In the Spring of 2013, Faheem Majeed and Abigail Satinsky taught Intro to Socially Engaged Art: Social Practice at University of Illinois at Chicago. The course sought for students to “be introduced to the concept of socially engaged art, a practice that blurs the line between art and life, emphasizing participation, dialogue, and action. Throughout the course we will utilize field visits, artists dialogues, and class discussion, and interventions to gain a better understanding of artists as members of society who intervene in and create structures of participation”. Each student in the course was required to read an interview from the Never The Same project and present on that artist/group to the rest of the class.
